Buying both new and used Imported Vehicles come with much more risk than the local vehicles.
You never know the true history of the vehicle, who has owned it, how rusty the underbody is, when the services were done or if the car has been involved in any crash when it was overseas.
Imported Cars from some regions such as Asia are also typically much riskier.
Unfortunately, some overseas sellers fabricate the service records and vehicle condition reports before exporting them and in many cases, they export the vehicles that have been involved in previous accidents and cannot be sold abroad.
Since there is no way to prove anything, typically people must just believe what the seller says about the car and take the risk.
Asian imported vehicles also normally come with much more rust than the average and in some cases, the rust is not reversible and the vehicle technically loses its value and safety.
Imported cars come with lots of benefits that’s why they are very popular in Australia and some dealers only focus on imported vehicles rather than selling the local ones.
Imported cars can be more exotic and fun to drive such as Nissan Skyline, Toyota Supra, they can be more equipped than the local cars such as Toyota Vellfire & Nissan Elgrand or can be much cheaper to buy such as Imported Toyota HiAce, Mitsubishi Delica and HiAce 4WD.
In some other cases, just like large American Pickup Trucks such as Ford F250, Ford F150 & Ram Trucks, they can be purchased for their unique aspects and large cargo area.
Since there is no local match for those types of vehicles, people have no choice but to import them and in many cases, they also go up in value over time which is another reason that people like imported cars.
There are many more reasons as to why people purchase imported vehicles so it is good to know you are not wasting your money on a wrong purchase.
Purchasing used imported cars also have some downsides. Naturally, the risk involved in buying imported vehicles is higher as we technically do not know anything about the car’s past and simply have to believe what is on the papers.
Sourcing spare parts also can be a nightmare depending on the vehicle. Some imported cars are so rare that even finding stock parts from wreckers is near impossible.
In these cases, the spare parts need to be imported from overseas and sometimes wrong parts are shipped and swapping them can be a time-consuming process.
Lost of mechanics also do not know how to work on imported cars because simply they have never had any experience with them. Finding a specialist mechanic can be a major challenge when it comes to imported car repairs.
Asian imported cars also sometimes come with a very rusty body. The rust targets the uncoated areas such as chassis, suspension and engine parts and as a result, removing the rust can be near impossible.
If the rust is not treated, it is going to be worse over time to the point that it can simply be too late as rust is not reversible, it is only treatable.
At Last Check, we have fully qualified import car inspectors with expertise and knowledge of imported car inspection and repairs. When you book your pre-purchase inspection, we only assign the right inspector to conduct the inspection for you.
At the same time, not all imported vehicles are done by the same inspector. Depending on the make and model and the region the imported vehicle is from, only the right car inspector will be appointed to do the job.
The inspection checklist we provide is also 100% Similar to each manufacturer. For example, the checklist for an Imported Toyota Vellfire is different from Toyota Alphard although they are made by the same manufacturer.
After each inspection and before you get the written report also you will be having a phone conversation with your inspector and he will explain everything to you over the phone so that you leave nothing to guesswork.
So, list down all your mechanical questions and ask your inspector one by one over the phone to get your answers.
At Last Check, we perform the Manufacturer Original Computers to Diagnose absolutely all the hidden faults of the Car rather than just normal scanners.
It means the computer we use to diagnose the faults is the same computer that the manufacturer uses and is tuned to check all internal modules of the imported car as small as each cylinder inside the engine individually.
It means even if the fault codes have been deliberately removed from the ECU (Car Computer), we will still find them. This computer diagnosis also gives you the engine performance live data which makes a huge difference and we can comment on the health of all internal parts of the engine apart from the faults.
Pre Purchase Import car Inspection is done by TWO Inspectors instead of one (Only at Last Check).
One inspector physically inspects the vehicle and another inspector analyses the super-advanced computer scanning data in the office which might take up to another 4 hours before releasing the results.
This inspection gives you everything that our Premium Car Inspection plus special rust, paint and body assessment that we do differently on the imported vehicles to ensure you do not have any rust hidden under the paint and the car has the original body paint on.
Our main mission is to exceed our valuable clients’ expectations by providing a Vehicle Inspection unlike any other along with the best customer service.
