THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT IMPORTED CARS

Buying both new and used Imported Vehicles comes with much more risk than local vehicles. You never know the true history of the vehicle, who used to own it, how rusty the underbody is, how often the services were done or if the car has been involved in any crashes in the past.

Imported cars from some regions such as Asia are also typically much riskier. Unfortunately, some overseas sellers fabricate the service records and vehicle condition reports before exporting them and in many cases, they export the vehicles that have been involved in collisions and cannot be sold abroad.

Since there is no way to prove anything, typically people must just believe what the seller says about the car and take the risk, so it is always best to put the guesswork aside and make a decision with open eyes.

BENEFITS OF PURCHASING IMPORTED CARS

Imported cars come with lots of benefits which is why they are very popular in Australia and some dealers only focus on imported vehicles rather than selling the local ones.

Many imported cars can be more exotic and fun to drive such as Nissan Skyline and Toyota Supra, they can be more equipped than the local cars such as Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Crown & Nissan Elgrand or can be much cheaper to buy such as Imported Toyota HiAce, Mitsubishi Delica and Toyota HiAce 4WD. In some other cases, people buy them for their bigger size and extra equipment such as Ford F150, Ford F250 & Ram Trucks which have no Australian counterpart.

When it comes to disability vehicles, imported ones mostly beat their Australian rivals, pricewise and functionality wise and this is the reason that Australians prefer to import disability vehicles from Japan and Europe rather than converting the local stock. Imported disability vehicles are normally much cheaper and come fully set up which makes them ready to use from the registration date.

There are many more reasons why people purchase imported vehicles, so it is good to know you are not wasting your money and getting real value for your cash.

DOWNSIDES OF BUYING IMPORTED CARS

Purchasing used imported cars naturally has some downsides. The risk involved in buying imported cars is higher as we technically do not know anything about the car’s past and simply have to believe what is on the papers.

Sourcing spare parts can also be a nightmare depending on the vehicle. Some imported cars are so rare that even finding stock parts from wreckers is near impossible in Australia. In these cases, the spare parts need to be imported from overseas and sometimes wrong parts are shipped and swapping them can be a time-consuming process.

When it comes to repairs, many mechanics do not know how to work on imported cars because simply they have never had any experience with them. Finding a specialist to repair the car can be a major challenge and the labour cost is normally much higher than average.

Asian imported cars also often come with a very rusty body. The rust targets the uncoated areas such as chassis, suspension and engine parts and as a result, removing the rust can be near impossible.

WHO INSPECTS IMPORT CARS AT LAST CHECK?

At Last Check, we have fully qualified import car inspectors with complete knowledge of import car inspection and repair. When you book your pre-purchase inspection, based on the make and model of the imported car, we only assign the right inspector to conduct the inspection.

Not all imported vehicles are done by the same inspector. Depending on the make, model and region, the inspector might be different so that you get the best advice possible from someone who is familiar with the vehicle and knows all pros and cons.

The inspection checklist we have for each make and model is unique across the board to ensure nothing goes undetected. For example, the checklist for an Imported Toyota Vellfire is different from Toyota Alphard although they are made by the same manufacturer and they are both different from the checklist we have for a Toyota Crown.

After each inspection and before you get the written report, you will be having a phone conversation with your inspector. He will go through everything with you one by one and tells you what is best for you to do, so list down all your technical questions and ask your inspector after the inspection to be able to make the final decision with complete confidence

EXPERIENCE A REAL PREMIUM SERVICE!

Our main goal is to exceed our valuable clients’ expectations by providing a Vehicle Inspection Service unlike any other along with the best possible customer service.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we take this very seriously. Our Licenced Inspectors do not look at any client as a number, they look at each car as if they want to buy it for themselves. This is how they have been trained before joining our force.

Our premium inspection plans include more checks which makes a big difference however our basic packages are still very comprehensive.

For each inspection, your inspector will get a different checklist and the vehicle inspection will not end until the list is completed. The checklist intensity and inclusions are based on the inspection package you have chosen, and different plans have different inclusions.

After the inspection, your inspector will call you and give you a complete verbal report over the phone. You will then have the chance to ask all mechanical questions from the same mechanic who has inspected your vehicle.

Within 24 hours of the inspection, you will receive a 25 to 30+ Page Report along with Hundreds of Pictures, Vehicle History Report (Official PPSR Report), your payment receipt and all other associated documents. To see what the report looks like, please visit the Sample Report page.

If your plan includes Urgent SMS Report that can be added to your service before checkout, you will get the report normally on the same day via SMS. If you are making a phone booking, you can ask us to upgrade your report to urgent. To learn more about us, please visit Why Last Check & Only @ Last Check.
