Tesla vehicles are also a special case. Unlike most cars, Teslas do not require this service because the VIN is always visible directly on the head unit and cannot be altered. Tesla’s servers continuously record VIN and odometer information, which means any attempt to roll back the odometer or tamper with the VIN will fail. This built-in security makes Tesla one of the few manufacturers where verification through our method is unnecessary, as the information is already guaranteed to be accurate and tamper-proof.

• In many cars, the odometer reading is not stored in the ECU.
  Instead, it’s stored in the instrument cluster (IC) or the Body Control Module (BCM), but we can still read it.

This service only reads and reports the VIN and odometer data as stored in the vehicle’s ECU. While the results often reveal signs of tampering or fraud, and we will provide you with the evidence of what we have found, we do not provide forensic investigations, legal advice, or crime-scene work.

Fraudsters may use sophisticated techniques to alter multiple vehicle systems, so ECU readings alone may not reveal every manipulation. We cannot confirm whether a VIN plate or sticker is genuine, as that requires forensic examination, which typically involves removal of the plate or sticker and laboratory analysis.
